The Ficus Garden is an important research base for fig ecology, ethno-botanical culture, and plant-animal co-evolution. XTBG plays a leading role in studies on interactions between fig and fig wasps. It is valuable for germplasm conservation, scienctific research, science popularization, and tourism as well.

Ficus is a genus of about 800 species of woody trees, shrubs, vines, epiphytes, and hemi-epiphytes in the family Moraceae. Collectively known as figs, they are native throughout the tropics with a few species extending into the warm temperate zone.
