Yuanjiang Savanna Ecosystem Research Station

Sep 03, 2026

Yuanjiang Savanna Ecosystem Research Station is located within the Yuanjiang National Nature Reserve in Yunnan Province, specifically at Pupiao Group, Nanhun Village Committee, Lijiang Town, Yuanjiang County, Yuxi City, Yunnan Province. The station is geographically situated at 23°28′ N latitude, 102°10′ E longitude, at an elevation of 481 m.

It is committed to addressing the resources, environment, and sustainable development challenges of dryhot valley regions in western China, as well as their response patterns to global change. Integrating “monitoring, research, demonstration, and talent training,” the station promotes its construction and development through a phased approach.

Following the monitoring indicators and technical methods of the Chinese Ecosystem Research Network (CERN), it conducts long-term fixed-point observations of ecological factors including water, soil, atmosphere, and biota, as well as observational and experimental studies on the impacts of human activities on ecosystems and the effectiveness of regulation and management.

Through several years of effort, the station aims to join the CERN and the national field station network, establishing itself as a base for long-term fixed-point monitoring, research, demonstration, and collaborative exchange on dry-hot valley vegetation ecosystems in China.
