XTBG holds exhibition of bird photographs

Nov 03, 2026

An exhibition of bird photographs is undergoing in Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG). It features 362 bird ecological photographs by 28 photographers. The works come from the first Xishuangbanna bird ecological photography competition. The photos are displayed on 78 A0-sized panels, presenting 188 species of wild birds in Xishuangbanna and highlighting rich avian resources and biodiversity conservation.

The exhibition is organized by bird protection level. National first-class protected species such as the grey peacock-pheasant, white-throated brown hornbill, and little cuckoo-dove are displayed on dedicated panels, while 38 special panels feature national second-class protected species including the orange-breasted trogon, silver-breasted broadbill, barn owl, and collared scops owl. Each work is properly labeled with the bird's Chinese name, Latin scientific name, protection level, photographer, location, and date.

The photographs cover diverse habitats across Xishuangbanna (including tropical rainforests, wetlands, farmlands, and village surroundings), recording precious moments of birds nesting, raising chicks, foraging, and in flight.

The first Xishuangbanna bird ecological photography competition was organized by XTBG and other collaborators, aiming to comprehensively document and showcase bird diversity in Xishuangbanna and increase public awareness of ecological protection.
