June 29 marked a new milestone for XTBG, as the graduation ceremony and degree awarding for postgraduates of 2010 was held. 37 postgraduate students received their master or doctoral degrees in recognition of their accomplishment of studies over the past few years at XTBG.

June 19 came the “big day’” for all XTBG graduates, celebrating their successful accomplishments at XTBG. Graduation Ceremony 2009 was held to recognize their hard work and efforts. Graduates, academic supervisors, leaders, representatives of faculty members and students witnessed the glorious and excitement moment together.

A series of activities were organized by the Students’ Union to celebrate the 24th Chinese Teachers’ Day which falls on Sep.10, commemorating the teachers for their efforts and extending affection and gratitude to their supervisors.

The annual Graduation Ceremony 2008 was held on July 2 to honor the achievements of the students on their successful accomplishment of studies. It is a “Big Day” for every student and their supervisors. All their efforts and hard work get recognized.

30 plus students and teachers from the University of Science & Technology of China (USTC) took internship in XTBG during August 9-14. Different kinds of activities were designed for the students to fulfill the internship goals and accomplish tasks. A report on ethnic cultures in Xishuangbanna was particularly delivered to the USTC students.

The annual celebration for XTBG graduating students 2007 was held at the headquarters on June 27, which included a gathering of the students, their teachers and leaders, acknowledgements, farewell party and planting memorial tree as well.

The Meeting on Graduate Admissions of Yunnan 2007 was held in XTBG on November 7. Representatives from 17 universities and institutions authorized to enroll graduate students participated in the meeting. Relevant leaders of Yunnan Provincial Department of Education and XTBG deputy director Li Hongwei were also present.

During October 25-27, CAS Kunming Branch and Xi’an Branch jointly held a seminar for graduate supervisors in XTBG. Prof. Ma Shizhuang, vice president of the Graduate University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (GUCAS), vice president Xi Jianxun of CAS Kunming Branch, vice president Lv Jiancheng of Xi’an Branch, graduate supervisors and administrators participated in the seminar.

On July 3, the graduates of 2006 gathered together with their supervisors at the headquarters of XTBG, Menglun, to commemorate their achievements in the Garden. To memorize their life in XTBG, all the graduates planted a tree, Pometia tomentosa, in front of their apartment, which is very meaning both to the Garden and the graduates themselves.

A comprehensive cooperation agreement was signed between XTBG and USTC on July 15 at Menglun, the headquarters of XTBG. As the representatives of two sides, Mr. Peng Daiping, deputy director of XTBG, and Prof. Niu Liwen, executive dean of School of Life Sciences, USTC signed the contract. The signing ceremony was presided over by Mr. Li Hongwei, XTBG director assistant and leader of the Personnel and Education Department.
