Title: The evolutionary history of the honeybee Apis mellifera revealed by genomics Speaker: Matthew Webster Uppsala University, Sweden
Time: 4:30 PM , Tuesday, January 5 , 2016 Venue: The Conference Hall in Xishuangbanna Headquarters The 1st floor meeting room in Kunming Division (video conference) ABOUT Research topicsA major theme of my research is understanding the extent to which genome evolution is driven by Darwinian natural selection as opposed to the accumulation of random genetic changes (neutral evolution). I use bioinformatic approaches to study the various processes that effect the composition of genomes, such as mutation, selection, recombination, population history and genetic drift. I am interested in the effect of these processes on patterns of genetic variation both within and between species. |
