An exhibition of tropical plant seed and fruit diversity was held at Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) during the National Day Holiday. On display were fresh infructescences, fruits and seeds of 125 tropical plant species in 56 families. In various forms, the exhibition showed the rich diversity of tropical fruits and seeds in dispersal, germination habits and uses.

The exhibition was divided into four sections, including large fruits, infructescences and seeds; dry seeds and fruits; edible fruits and seeds; and others.

The exhibition includes gymnosperms, monocotyledons and dicotyledons, as well as protected plants and economic crops. It illustrates different germination habits, including orthodox and recalcitrant seeds, and different dispersal modes such as wind, water and animal dispersal.

Every fruit tells a story, and the diverse fruits and seeds of tropical plants inspire imagination while making science communication more interactive, experiential and participatory.

Many visitors spoke highly of the exhibition. They said that the exhibition is an example telling “plant mothers have their ways”.
