Gan Fanyuan visits Biotechnology and Ecology Institute of Lao

Mr. Gan Fanyuan, CPC secretary and deputy director of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG), paid a visit to Lao DPR from February 25 to March 2, at the invitation of Dr. Keovivone Outthachak, head of the Biotechnology and Ecology Institute (BEI) of Lao Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF).

Gan Fanyuan and Keovivone Outthachak had a working meeting to review achievements of the two sides in scientific research, talent cultivation, and international cooperation. He expressed gratitude to BEI for its long-term support. Dr. Keovivone Outthachak spoke highly of the collaboration and would like to provide continuous support to the Lao Office of the Southeast Asia Biodiversity Research Institute (SEABRI).

The two sides will have further and deeper cooperation in biodiversity conservation, community development benefits, and others. By strengthening cooperation, both sides expect to contribute more to building of the  China-Laos community with a shared future.

Gan Fanyuan visited the nursery within the institute, as well as the Nam Kading, Phou Khao Khua, and Luang Prabang conservation areas in Policansai, Ganmen, and Luang Prabang to understand the current status of local biodiversity conservation and community development needs.

During his stay in Lao, Gan Fanyuan inspected the work of Lao Office of SEABRI.
