A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed berween Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) and the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC) of Thailand on September 11. The agreement aims to promote joint efforts in biodiversity research, crop biotechnology, and sustainable agricultural development. As representatives of the two sides, XTBG director Xing Yaowu signed MoU with Dr. Chaowaree Adthalungrong, executive director of BIOTEC. According to the MoU,XTBG and BIOTEC underthe National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) will have practical cooperation in plant germplasm resource sharing and preservation, domestication and application of new crops, as well as academic exchanges and training programs. A regular communication mechanism will be established to facilitate collaboration through joint research initiatives, academic seminars, and exchange visits. During their stay, the BIOTEC delegation also looked around XTBG to learn about its achievements in species conservation, garden development, and environmental education. This partnership is expected to promote Sino-Thai collaboration in tropical plant science and sustainable development to new heights.
