Annual Staff and Workers Representatives Congress 2026 held

The two-day annual meeting 2026 of staff and workers representatives congress of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) was held on May 28-29, with attendance of 41 voting representatives and 30 non-voting delegates. Prof. Zhang Jiaolin, CPC secretary and deputy director f XTBG, chaired the opening.

Director Xing Yaowu made a keynote special on behalf of the directorate, mainly concerning the current work tasks and the 15th five-year plan. The report comprehensively reviewed and summarized the achievements of XTBG during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021–2025). He also introduced the systematic planning process for XTBG’s development during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026–2030).

Prof. Zhang Jiaolin represented a report on the progress of the three reforms at XTBG. Ms. Dong Mengyun reported on the budget execution of 2025 and the budget for 2026. Mr. Shi Han reported on proposal collection for the current session. Ms. Cao Junxiu reported the implementation of proposals from 2025.

During the group discussions and collaborative sessions, the representatives engaged in lively debates on the three reforms and other topics with a trong sense of ownership. They also talked about operational mechanisms of integrated research teams, career development pathways for young researchers, preparations for the national botanical garden plaque unveiling, upgrading the science-education travel brand, and campus safety and logistics.
